Beat Skyward Sword after not being able to play it over the holidays. While I’m predisposed to thinking the side-stories like Link’s Awakening and Majora’s Mask are better games, Skyward Sword is probably the best “main” entry since Ocarina of Time or (maybe) Link to the Past.
Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo has a pretty good review that discusses the issues regarding the Zelda formula and on a related note, Jeremy Parish’s retroview of Link to the Past is worth reading as it touches on the continuing problem of Zelda’s formula and its stagnation over the last decade.
